Hayden and Koen asked mommy to take some pictures of them so they could
give daddy a nice framed picture for his office for Father's Day.  We had lots of
fun and got some great shots.

Dr. Seuss' Thing 1 & Thing 2:
Hayden and Koen had their first experience in a swimming pool.  Unfortunately, it
was overcast and the water was a little cool.  Both boys cried initially.  Koen was
very unhappy with the conditions and cried non-stop until he was out on dry land
again (clinging to his Gramma with a death grip).  Hayden "warmed up" to the
idea of being in the cool water, at least a little bit.  We hope to try it again on a
warmer day and hopefully the boys will have more fun next time.

Hayden has been making fish lips for some time now but he would always stop
when I grabbed the camera.  Finally, I was able to get a couple pictures of it.  In
the third picture, Hayden is demonstrating his impressive dexterity, both with his
hands and his feet.
Koen has been learning to crawl.  He started out getting on all fours and rocking
back and forth.  He then progressed to an inch worm movement.  Finally, he has
now mastered crawling on all fours.  He enjoys chasing the cat and dog around
the house.  He is also showing a strong desire to be vertical.  When helped up,
he can remain standing leaning against the coffee table.
So far, Hayden is just observing as his brother becomes mobile.  We had been
putting the boys on a blanket for play time.  However, I noticed that Hayden had
figured out how to pull on the blanket in order to bring out-of-reach toys to himself
rather than going to the toys.  Although this showed superior problem solving
skills, I decided it wasn't helping him to develop his motor skills so I have
removed the blanket.  It seems to be working as he is learning to pull himself to
the toys.
